Last post, I made the point that we follow The Code’s five laws instinctively, automatically. Just like a toddler doesn’t know how she walks, but walks anyway, we often don’t know why we do what we do. We just do.

So, if we follow these laws automatically, why does it matter knowing what they are?

My answer: knowledge is power. When we learn how things work, we can make things work better. We can solve more problems and get more done.

Think about electricity. It’s been around from the beginning. Electrons in every atom in the universe. But when we finally learned how electricity worked, we harnessed new power and life got easier.

Well, not for all of us. Dutch farmers in Pennsylvania (the Amish) choose not to bother. Over a century since the invention of the electric light, these crazies still live by lanterns and won’t talk on a phone. Sure, we can ignore knowledge and walk away from power. But it’s not smart. Better to learn, grow, and improve.

Same with the five laws. They don’t just explain how things work. They explain how we work. How we think. Why we do what we do. The Code is the secret behind effective thought and behavior. In my less-than-humble opinion, this is bigger than electricity, because it’s about the laws of human nature. When we learn them, we immediately find new power to solve problems and get things done.
