The Mastery Program
To realize the full value of Perceptual Intelligence®, we encourage leaders and their teams into the mastery program, one year of reinforcement and application that works best in intact teams and uses the mastery tools described here.
What is the mastery program?
A Path to Total Freedom and Complete Fulfillment.
Once we’ve learned the basics of Perceptual Intelligence® (from the first course in the Perceptual Intelligence® Series, “Automatic Influence”), we follow a process of “perceptual kaizen:” continuous perceptual improvement.
We do this by identifying destructive perceptions, replacing with highly constructive alternatives, and repeating to build perceptual habits.
This multi-year reinforcement and application system uses the following tools:
- The Take Ten 50-lesson audio-video program.
- The Automatic Influence Power Cards course and oral exam.
- The Automatic Influence Video Reinforcement Program.
- Perceptual Intelligence® Mastery Workshops.
- The Perceptual Intelligence® Constructive Sayings System.
sustainable training to build effective leaders
the tools you need to finish the job.
Once leaders have taken their foundational training (by completing the first course in the Perceptual Intelligence Series, “Automatic Influence”), we invite them to participate in the 12-month mastery program.
Using the following tools, leaders can fully develop themselves and their teams.
Take Ten for “Automatic Influence”
Take Ten is a 50-lesson audio-video program (based on the first course in the Perceptual Intelligence® Series, “Automatic Influence”), that helps leaders guide weekly ten-minute discussions with their work teams.
It can also be used individually.
The goal is to transform intact work teams, week after week, by applying Perceptual Intelligence® principles.
How does it work?
- Each week, leaders access the Take Ten course through their Perceptual Intelligence® account and follow the media prompts.
- The leader plays the opening one-minute audio-video segment to the team where host Erik Van Alstine sets up the discussion question.
- After discussion, the leader plays the final short audio-video from Erik.
- Total time is less than two minutes of the leader playing audio-video and more than eight minutes of team discussion and application.
“Automatic Influence” power cards
The Automatic Influence Power Cards course offers over 30 flash card-style reinforcements of vital content from the Automatic Influence course (the first course in the Perceptual Intelligence® Series).
The “power cards” are digital, for use on computers and phones, and works for individuals and teams.
How does it work?
Learners access the power card course through their Perceptual Intelligence® account, launch a “lesson” that includes 5 to 7 cards, read each card and say what’s on the opposite side, out loud. Then they click the card to reveal the other side, confirming an accurate answer. Over seven lessons they learn to:
- Define perception clearly.
- Memorize the “Power Statement.”
- Memorize the four prime perceptions.
- Memorize the full effects of the prime perceptions.
Automatic Influence Video Reinforcement
In the Automatic Influence course, each of the 19 lessons is a set of 2-3 minute video segments, interspersed with quizzes and reinforcements.
The Automatic Influence Video Reinforcement Course combines all these short video segments into one “aggregated video” per lesson, so participants can watch or listen to the entire lesson content during commutes or during breaks.
Participants have asked for this reinforcement tool because they quickly discover that Automatic Influence content is rich, deep, and directed toward a practice of continuous perceptual improvement, which means participants want to watch and listen to the content more than once.
mastery workshops
On an ongoing basis, we encourage executive leaders to host Perceptual Intelligence®-related mastery workshops with their leaders, often as half-hour to 2-hour sessions to master specific concepts.
For example, leaders often work to master the “four helping questions” approach to interventions taught in the “Helping People Change” lesson of the Automatic Influence course. This is done as a half-hour setup session followed by an hour practice session the following week.
the “constructive sayings” system
The Perceptual Intelligence® Constructive Sayings System shows how the process of continuous perceptual improvement works, and then works that process for up to 50 separate “sayings.”
The process involves:
- Identifying a destructive perception of self, others, situation, etc.
- Replacing with a highly constructive perception.
- Repeating to build a perceptual habit.
